Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. While the rest of the country braces itself for another day of freezing temperatures and the possibility of snow. I stepped onto the patio with a cup of coffee, clad only in a pair of cargo shorts, a t-shirt and off course barefoot. The weather man said to expect the highs only to reach into the mid 70's. "Unseasonably" cool he said. LOL!

So What, I hear you say. So What indeed.

The point is, That for some: Writing requires concentration, focus, commitment, a desire to learn and the desire to succeed. While for others: Writing requires concentration, focus, commitment, a desire to learn and the desire to succeed.

Putting our knowledge and thoughts to paper is the same for everyone and no one is any better off than anybody else. But! you exclaim, I never went to college, I don't know how, I don't know what to write about, I'm too old and no one would read it anyway.

None of those excuses are valid. We all know something about something. If you've ever had an opinion about a condition, a product, a book you read, or a person you encountered. You have a topic to start with. All you need to do is put it to paper.

Age is not a negative. Quite frankly, It's a positive thing. More time on the planet = more experiences = more to write about.

Here's something I bet you never heard before, Writing articles is the cheapest and most effective means you can use to generate traffic to your site and improve your ranking in the search engines.

Here's the deal.

If your selling stuff from your site and you want to sell boatloads of it, start writing.

If your hanging on to another invalid excuse that you don't have any money or a web site, then I have an answer for that as well. You don't need any money, go and get a free blog from Blogger. Then start writing. You'll soon have some money since you can just as easily sell from a blog as you can from a web site.

You don't have to write the next great American novel. You can do a short review of an ebook that you've purchased or a piece of software that you've used. Start small. As you learn your articles will reflect that and will grow as you learn.

Read everything you can get your hands on. Writers read and read alot. Reading stimulates ideas and ideas get written.

In closing I'd like to say, You may or may not have liked what you've read. That is not my responsibility. I've simply put on paper the things I know to be true about yours truly. If you can relate, fine. If not, I can only say that I've done the best I could with what I've got and that's all any of us can do.

I'll be 60 years young in May, I never went to college nor did I finish high school.

If I can put my stuff out there, So can You!

HAPPY WRITING.

Article Marketing for Targeted Traffic

You can promote the best products in the world but if people don't visit your website and see your reviews there is no way that you will make any sales. When there are so many other people out there competing, what strategies are available to drive targetted traffic to your site?

One of the best ways of driving free traffic to your website is by article marketing. Have a blog on your website and post articles there. Then submit these articles to other websites called article directories.

Three great article directories are

EzineArticles (generally considered the best of them all)

goarticles

associatedcontent

By writing articles about the product or service your website deal with and submitting them to highly ranked article directories you can send highly targetted traffic to your website for free. That's the great thing about article marketing, all it costs you is your time.

There is another benefit to article marketing, this is creating backlinks. The more backlinks you have from highly ranked sites means that search engines such as Google, MSN or Yahoo view your site as more important and give you a higher page ranking and the higher your page ranking the more visitors you will get to your site.

When you submit your article to an article directory for the first time you will be asked to fill out an 'Author's Resource Box.' This is where you get to write a brief description of yourself, and more importantly, a link to your website. This allows people who are already interested in what you have to offer to visit your.

Also, if the article is well written other bloggers in the same market as you may reproduce it on their websites but they are only allowed to do this by including your Author's Resource Box so this is another link to your site.

Another way to ensure your articles catch the attention of the search engines is to ensure that they are keyword rich.

If you are writing about sausage making equipment then this phrase needs to be in the first and last paragraphs of the article. In the first paragraph have the phrase in bold lettering and in the last paragraph have it in italics, this helps the Search Engines to recognise what the article is about. If possible, have the phrase as a clickable link to website of the product you are affiliated to (with your affiliate link, of course).

These are just some of the ways you can optimise your article for the search engines so that they list your site when people use the keywords or phrases that are in your article.

I will be covering Search Engine Optimisation in more depth in other articles but that, for now, is the basics of article marketing and how it can dirve targetted traffic to your website.

It is possible to earn thousands of dollars with article marketing when you know the exact steps, and this is what you are going to discover in this article.

Although it's the easiest way to promote a business on the Internet, and I mean any ind of business you can imagine, many people don't write or submit articles. And those who are submitting are doing it wrong.

What you really need to do to earn money from this incredible opportunity?

1. The right education.

The very first thing I recommend is to invest in your education. I don't care if you claim that everything can be found on the Internet for free because this is not true.

Your time does have a price tag on it, and it's much more valuable than money. Personally, I don't lie to take two days to find an answer I could have in mere minutes.

Anyway, if you prefer trading your time, do it. But you want to be sure that you learn the right steps.

2. Article directory sites.

There are thousands of directories out there.I have two directories myself, however I don't have the time to promote them. Anyway, just perform a search on your preferred search engine, and you will find hundreds of them.

It will take a lot of time to register to all these article sites at first, but it's only a one time work, so do it. If your day job don't allow you to spend time on this, you can outsource this process for $6 to $15 an hour.

More about these sites in part two.

Making Money with Your Blog!

Operating an affiliate program to drive traffic to your website has never been easier. Most Sites utilize 3rd Party Services (so called Affiliate Networks). Those Services provide the infrastructure for you to track all the traffic and referrals to your Website.

Networks also work as a Recruiting Platform to find Websites willing to promote your Products or Services. The Integration of their Service usually takes just a few days or sometimes just a few hours.

Some of the Networks also help you to keep the generated overhead low (such as Payment of the Affiliates).

Networks usually charge 20-30% of the commission you pay to Affiliates as Fee to you. If the Fee is 25% for example and you pay 10% commission per Sale to you Affiliate, you must pay $12.5 in commission and fee for a $100 Sale.

In-House Affiliate Program Solutions and Software

You might want to have more control over your Affiliate Program and avoid the Network fees by running the program In-House.

You can, of course, develop all the necessary tools and technology by yourself, but that may be not very cost effective and not as easy as it seems.

The technology has already been developed by various Affiliate Tracking Solution Providers and Software Packages.

They are most of the time easy to plug into your existing Sites and have already proven themselves. Be careful with too small or too new Solution and Software Provoiders.

Check the Background of the Company you consider first. Do your diligence!

Outsourcing - Outsourced Program Management (OPM)

When you have your Program up and running, the first and important step was done. Now begins the complicated part starts.

The Wild West of Affiliate Marketing when quick and easy money was made and having an Affiliate Program running on "Auto Drive" generated a huge increase in sales by affiliates that seeked out programs and did everything themselves without the need of support and guidance is over. Business on the internet matured and Affiliate Marketing as well.

An Affiliate Program requires attention.

To get active and quality affiliates requires active recruitment efforts. Support of existing affiliates also became vital. A clear set of Rules, the Affiliate Agreement, must be worked out and be enforced.

Allocate Resources to the program and don't do it on the side.

Your program is destined to fail if you don't spend the required resources and time for your program.

If you don't have the resources in-house, consider outsourcing of your program management (OPM). There are today a number of quality service companies available that are specialized in this.

Conclusion

Thousands of Websites operating their Affiliate Program successfully today, prove, that Affiliate Marketing is the most cost effective and efficient way to promote your products and services on the World Wide Web.

Affiliate Marketing guarantees a fast ROI (Return of Investment) and for some Online Merchants and Services are the Sales generated through the Affiliate Channel making up a considerable percentage of their total online Revenue.

This is

In the previous articles you learned a lot about key words and how they are used as tools by people who are looking for information. Then we found out that just about everything on the internet is tracked. Because of this, we are able to learn more about what people are looking for and we can even see how many websites there are trying to supply information, products or services to the people that are looking.

Let's make up a scenario based on what we have learned and how it would be used in real life. This is just a fictitious example. Let's say I decided I wanted to promote an affiliate program for website hosting. I am just going to lay out for you what my train of thinking would be.

I do some key word research and I come up with 200 key words related to website hosting. After researching those words, I find 30 that aren't looked up the most, because all of the most searched words had too much competition. But I found 30 that are looked up regularly but don't have the huge numbers of suppliers with sites with those key words.

Now I do some research on those 30 words, and make sure I have plenty of good information and get a very strong understanding of the ins and outs of hosting. Then I write 3 articles for each key word, using the key word in the title of each article. I do this assuming that the hosting company that I have chosen to sign up as an affiliate for, has a very good product, and an excellent sales letter already provided for their affiliates (me).

Now here is the magic of article marketing. First, even if I knew a fair amount about my topic before, you can just imagine how much better I know the topic after I have written almost 100 articles. Second, I put a squeeze page in between my article readers and my hosting company.

How do I do this? I write a quick sales letter offering a free report on the ins and outs of choosing a web hosting company. This is easy, because I just wrote almost 100 articles. And now, I get the name and email address of everyone that clicks one of my links in my articles to get the free report before reading the sales letter of the hosting company.

Now you might be asking yourself, did I miss something? Is it really that easy? Why does this work? How do paying customers get to my affiliate link to buy web hosting? Next I will explain this to you from the customer's perspective because that is how you will see just how good it really does work.

What if Dan Iverson could show you how to write about any topic on earth and make money? Here is the best part. I will teach you all of this absolutely free. That's right, click on this link and you'll get the full Affiliate Masters Course Free.

This is

1. The "Affiliate Tease" Strategy

The "you will buy my product anyway once you see how well it sells..." strategy informs future customers that you aren't going to force them to purchase your product before they join your affiliate program like some businesses do. You will show them how much confidence you have about your product and they will assume they will have a good chance to make a lot of money by joining your affiliate program.

2. The "Check It" Strategy

The "check any of the boxes that apply to you..." strategy informs future customers to take physical action or interaction with your sales letter. Sometimes when people take a little action or get physically involved in the sales process, it sets them in full motion to buy and gain their desired benefit.

3. The "Junkie" Strategy

The "I have a confession to make: I'm a (type of product) junkie..." strategy informs future customers that they aren't the only addicts who purchase product after product to gain their desired benefit. It will show them that it's okay to invest in your product even though they may already own a ton of similar ones. Plus, tell them why your product is different from the rest.

4. The "Advertising Specialty" Strategy

The "bonus: a (your product's name) T-shirt..." strategy informs future customers that they are going to get a specialty item as a bonus which they can use in their every day life. You'll get free offline advertising by placing your product information on the item. It could be your product name, web site address, etc. Some good advertising items are coffee cups, bumper stickers, key chains, pens, license place covers, etc. You can also tell them the quantities and that it's on a first-come, first-served basis - once you run out, that's it.

5. The "Commission Call" Strategy

The "make (no.)% commissions on this call..." strategy informs future customers that if they sign-up to your affiliate program and promote your free tele-call they can earn money. Just tell them to get people registered for the free call and you'll help close the sale for them. You could even tell them if they make over so many sales they will get a prize; the product or higher bonus commissions.

6. The "Myth And Fact" Strategy

The "MYTH: (a description of the myth). FACT: (a description of the fact)..." strategy informs future customers a myth that would stop people from purchasing your product and a fact which quickly eliminates the myth. For example, MYTH: You need a big investment to start your own business. FACT: You can start your own successful business today for only $10.

7. The "It's Your Fault" Strategy

The "if you don't (your product's benefit) this (week/month/year) it's because you didn't read this letter..." strategy informs future customers they won't benefit unless they read your sales letter. In your sales letter you can give them tips for gaining their desired benefit but tell them your product will allow them to gain their desired benefit quicker and easier than your competition's.

8. The "Perfect Time" Strategy

The "have you ever wished you were in the perfect place at the perfect time to (your product's benefit)..." strategy informs future customers they can take advantage of one of those situations by purchasing your product. You can tell them that you have a new feature that your competition doesn't have; you offer a patented benefit that no one else can offer; you teamed up with another business so you can offer them more for their money; etc.

9. The "Behind The Scenes" Strategy

The "I've secretly helped successful (topic) experts for years..." strategy informs future customers that you work behind the scenes to help these experts become successful. You can even ask the experts that you've helped to give you an endorsement or testimonial. You can tell them now you are finally going to allow the masses to get your help and product so they can become successful too.

10. The "Personalized" Strategy

The "it can be personalized..." strategy informs future customers that they can custom order your product with their business name, web site address, logo, or any other advertisement on it. If it's just for normal consumers, you could say their name, picture, pet, age, etc. Or if it's going to be a gift for someone else, they can personalize it with that person's personal information.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

The next basic of article marketing is to create a short resource box that has links to your web site, copyright info, Unique selling Proposition, any special offers you want to give or any other relevant information that you want to share with the readers regarding the article you have written. Resource box is where you get paid to your knowledge that you share with the readers, so it is supposed to be rewarding. Regarding the links in your resource box, do not try to be too promotional. If you have more than one web site then it is always advised to give a link to the web site that is best linked to the topic. It is not advisable to list all the web sites and the list of the accomplishments that you own till date. Believe me, no one bothers about this fact. Also do not include the advertisement of the products in the resource box that are not relevant to the topic. The size of the resource box should not be more than one fifth of the size of the article.

The third basic of article marketing is to submit the articles to the directories and web site that are of high quality and those who have good traffic. It is always good to submit the articles in more than one directory. When you submit your article, make sure that your articles are according to the guidelines laid down by the publisher.

Hence article marketing is an easy tool that increases traffic to your web site. As you write good, content oriented articles, the traffic to your web site keeps on increasing.
