Is there a sure fire way to judge the expert status of an online article writer by the way they write their articles? Is there a way to pick out the authorities in the field, domain or industry, by their words? How can we find the experts who are only semi-good writers from the good writers who are posing as experts? Is there a way to take the number of times an article was emailed to friends, published or viewed and use that as part of the criteria, letting the readers and publishers judge?

This might perhaps be one way to secure a list of expert writers. And yet I have watched my statistics on one online article submission site and I have seen that some people pull a 100 articles in a row from my article list. If they pull them in a row and put them on various websites, then are they looking for quality or just need bulk content?

Still the website owner is choosing right? Often, I see in the middle of the night someone will pull down all the articles in a specific category only. I have 156,000 ezine article pulls now on 11,111 articles so that is quite a few.

Perhaps such statistics are a potential way to judge if expert status in online article writing has been obtained, yet, as the top online article writer on the Internet I am still somewhat skeptical of a system that might judge the expert status of a writer. After all some experts are lousy writer, but their concepts are brilliant and some great writers are not experts at all, they can simply write well enough to pose as an authority and fool the reader.

When you begin your Article Marketing Career you will be unknown. The only way to bring your name out of obscurity is to write article after article after article. Believe me you will first hate writing them. Then after awhile you will learn to love it.

** Step 11 - Credibility in Article Marketing **

As the number of your article grow you will begin to see more and more traffic on your website. Why? The reason for this is simple actually. You have written enough articles that you name has become known and you are now recognized as an expert in your field. We call that credibility.

Credibility is the quality, capability, or power to elicit belief. A credible person is someone who is experienced, intelligent, skilled and qualified in their own niche. They are an expert who is also honest, fair, unselfish and caring.

When writing an article and there by building credibility with potential customers there are a few things that you should remember and put into practice.

1.) Always write articles that are high in quality, full of useful content, and educate your reader.

2.) Speak on a subject and give concise information, do not just toss a list of links out there and call it an article, hoping that readers they click the link in your resource box.

You will reap the rewards of giving your readers quality content. If you can leave a reader with the feeling that they learned something simply by reading an article that you have written they will be much more inclined to click through to your website and join your list.

3.) Us a conversational style when writing your articles. Your readers will be much more appreciative of an article that talks to them instead of at them. If you write your articles with all the pizzazz of a service manual for a 1999 Toyota they will be flat and leave your readers wondering what they just read.

Bored readers will simply find something else to read.

4.) Never mislead your readers with your headline. If your headline implies that you are talking about the problem of illegal drugs then do not use it for an article that is really about where to buy wholesale prescriptions.

Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with writing a powerful, attention demanding headline, but be honest. Readers open your articles because your headline inspired them to. Do not ruin your credibility with dishonesty.

Credibility takes time to build and care to maintain, but can be lost very easily.

Really? I mean, we're all concerned with the size of our list, and I'll be you check your stats each and every day to see how many members you gained overnight. But let me tell you something... Size doesn't matter, responsiveness does.

So, what's responsivity? It's the rate at which the people on your list buy the product you recommend to them or sign up for whatever your offer may be. For instance, if your list is 10,000 people and 3,000 of them buy something when you send an email to them, my responsivity rate is 30%. That's pretty awesome, right? Well, it is, and you probably won't see rates that high, but I wanted a simple example to show you what I mean.

But if your list isn't buying, don't call them losers. The problem might be you.

Where did you build your list? Was it in your niche market? When you get subscribers from that market, they're very highly targeted, and your response rates will always be better. As an example, if you're in the fishing equipment business, and you don't sell to people who fish, how much stuff do you think you'll sell? Not much.

Another thing about who's on your list is how did you get them? I mean, were they single or double opted-in? Double opted-in list members are usually more responsive. They've taken the time to click the confirmation link, and they're interested in you and what you have to offer them. Single opted-in list members may have trouble remembering who you are and unless your first message goes out to them immediately, which your welcome message should do, anyway, but even when you do, they may unsubscribe or even make a spam complaint. But even though your autoresponder has your back, and single opt-in is definitely faster, the list members you get this way will probably much less responsive.

Next, consider your autoresponder's role in this. What's their deliverabilty rate? How many of your customers even see your email? If you can't get the information at the site, then call or email them and ask. If your service can't or won't tell you, think about hiring another. People on your list can't buy if they don't see your offer. Right?

Your third consideration is what you use in your "From" line. SuperMarketing, Inc.? Will your list members know that the email is from you? If not, it will either end up in the trash because they'll think it's spam or it will go directly to their junk mail folder with the same end result. Try using your first and last name in the "From" line and see if it won't boost your response rates.

Number four, does your subject line read: "FREE gift!" or "Open now!" Lines like that will probably get your message directly into the spam bucket. Think about what you write when you send a message to a friend, and be creative! Boring marketing drivel will just help your list members to ignore your mail.

Fifth is your copy. How good is your message? Don't try to sell people in your email. Give them something interesting to wonder about. Curiosity will drive them to your squeeze page or your sales letter. Get them wondering, don't sell them in an email.

The deal is that you have to test and track everything that you do--everything. Build a separate list that's double opt-in, and see if it doesn't get better results. Work on creating cooler subject lines, and better copy. If you can't write, get someone to write these for you. Just don't try to test everything at once. You can't do it! You'll have no idea what works and what doesn't. Change one thing at a time and keep changing it until you see the results you want to achieve, and than, move to another area. If you don't work toward making things better, your response rates will continue to be miserable. Change, then test and track and see if your response rates don't get better.
